The Sindh Cabinet has officially approved a comprehensive compensation package for the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy, reaffirming its commitment to the recovery of affected families and traders. Families who lost their loved ones in the devastating fire will receive Rs 10 million (1 crore) each in financial compensation.
Furthermore, to help the business community get back on its feet, the cabinet has approved interest-free loans of Rs 10 million per shopkeeper, with the Sindh government acting as guarantor and bearing the total interest cost. This is accompanied by an immediate subsistence grant of Rs 500,000 for each affected trader to cover household and utility expenses. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized that “relief, justice, and prevention must go hand in hand,” and directed that alternative commercial spaces be arranged within two months to resume business activities.
