Quality Education for All: Sindh High Court mandates 10% free seats in all private schools.

In a historic move for the education sector, the Sindh High Court has mandated that all private schools across the province must provide free education to at least 10% of their total student body. Following the court’s strict orders, the Sindh Government and the Directorate of Private Institutions have issued immediate directives for province-wide compliance.Key Provisions of the Directive:

  • Zero-Fee Admissions: Every eligible private school is now legally bound to ensure that at least 10% of its students are studying completely free of cost.
  • Documentary Proof: Schools are required to submit verifiable records, including admission registers and fee records, to the Directorate of Private Institutions to prove compliance.
  • Audit & Inspection: The government has authorized district-level committees to conduct comprehensive audits and surprise inspections to verify that the quota is being implemented transparently.
  • Legal Accountability: Officials emphasized that any institution failing to comply will face severe legal action, including the suspension or cancellation of registration under the Sindh Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2013.
  • Personal Responsibility: In a strong message of governance, the government has warned that personal accountability will be fixed on the responsible officers who fail to enforce these court-backed rules.
This initiative is designed to ensure that children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds have equal access to quality private education, fulfilling a constitutional right guaranteed to the citizens of Sindh.
