Peshawar Cleared to Host PSL 11 Matches; Imran Khan Stadium to Debut as Home for Peshawar Zalmi.
Peshawar to host PSL 11 matches
Peshawar is set to make history as the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium (formerly Arbab Niaz Stadium) has been approved to host matches for PSL 11. This marks the first time since the league’s inception in 2016 that Peshawar will serve as a venue, finally providing Peshawar Zalmi with a true home ground.
Key Highlights of the Historic Move
The decision followed a high-level security meeting at the Peshawar Corps Headquarters, where officials reviewed and cleared the province’s security situation for the tournament.
Future Opportunities: Naqvi also announced plans to form two additional teams from KP in the future to ensure local talent is not wasted and receives maximum exposure.
Tournament Window: PSL 11 is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, 2026.
A Hub for Talent: PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that approximately 60% of the national team’s players hail from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), making the city’s inclusion a tribute to the region’s vast cricketing contributions.
Infrastructure Ready: Recent upgrades to the stadium have significantly improved its facilities and infrastructure, now boasting a capacity of 35,000 spectators.
Expanding the League: The 2026 season will feature an expanded eight-team format, including debutants like the Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad.
