Punjab sovereign AI infrastructure
In a strategic move to accelerate the province’s digital transformation, the leadership of Data Vault Pakistan met with H.E. Ali Mustafa Dar, Advisor to CM Punjab on Artificial Intelligence, in late February 2026. The meeting focused on leveraging Pakistan’s first sovereign AI infrastructure to position Punjab as a leading AI-enabled hub in South Asia.
Key Highlights of the Collaboration Proposal
- Sovereign Infrastructure: Data Vault presented a roadmap to utilize its AI-ready data centers, which are equipped with over 3,000 enterprise-grade NVIDIA GPUs, to support Punjab’s governance, healthcare, and agriculture sectors.
- National Data Security: The partnership aims to ensure that sensitive national data remains within Pakistan’s borders by utilizing locally hosted AI cloud services, reducing reliance on offshore cloud providers.
- Strategic Leadership: H.E. Ali Mustafa Dar, who holds a software engineering degree from University College London (UCL) and UMIST, is driving the mandate to implement innovation-led policies across the province on a pro bono basis.
- Investment Boost: Data Vault’s international partnership with Datarocx (USA) is expected to unlock hundreds of millions of dollars in AI infrastructure investment for advanced chips and GPU clusters in Pakistan.
- Impact on Millions: For a province of 120 million people, this infrastructure could revolutionize public safety, education, and digital governance through AI-driven service delivery.
Strategic Objectives
By combining local expertise with global technology, this initiative seeks to create a future-proof ecosystem for startups and government institutions alike. The collaboration aligns with CM Maryam Nawaz’s vision to transform major cities into global IT hubs and make Punjab the most AI-enabled province in the region.
