Hutchison Ports KICT has reached a major milestone in the digitization of Pakistan’s maritime logistics by successfully completing the biometric onboarding of more than 15,000 truck drivers. Following a three-month soft launch that commenced on January 1, 2026, the system officially went live on April 1, 2026.

Advancing Maritime Efficiency

This digital shift is designed to streamline operations at the Karachi Port during a period of intense regional trade pressure:

  • Enhanced Security: The biometric system creates a more transparent and secure container handling ecosystem.
  • Operational Speed: By automating driver identification, the terminal aims to eliminate manual bottlenecks and reduce truck turnaround times.
  • Regional Context: The push for efficiency comes as exporters face a “double blow” of war-related disruptions and soaring port penalties, making every logistical improvement critical for the supply chain.
