  • Sighting Chance: There is a strong probability that the crescent will be sighted on the evening of February 18.
  • Moon’s Age: In Karachi, the moon’s age at sunset on February 18 will be approximately 26 hours, which is well above the minimum 19-hour requirement for visibility with the naked eye.
  • Visibility Window: Sunset is expected at 6:25 pm, while the moonset is forecast for 7:24 pm, offering a clear window of nearly one hour after sunset for sighting.
  • Weather Conditions: The PMD predicts partly cloudy weather in most parts of the country, though major cities are expected to have clear enough skies for observation.

Official Confirmation: While the scientific visibility looks favorable, the final and official announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after their formal meeting on the 29th of Shaban. This forecast allows citizens to begin their spiritual and logistical preparations for a month of reflection, fasting, and blessings.
