The Privatisation Commission (PC) has officially extended the deadline for the submission of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for private-sector participation in the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) to September 21, 2026. This revised timeline aims to provide both domestic and international investors with ample opportunity to complete thorough due diligence, thereby fostering a highly competitive and transparent privatisation process. As part of the federal government's broader economic reform and privatisation agenda, interested parties are invited to acquire between 51% and 100% of the share capital accompanied by management control across three major power distribution companies: IESCO, the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), and the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO). For IESCO specifically, the updated deadline requires EOIs to be submitted by 4:00 PM PKT on September 21, while all foundational terms, conditions, and procedural guidelines remain entirely unchanged.

The Privatisation Commission (PC) has extended the deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for private-sector participation in Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) to September 21, 2026.

The revised deadline is intended to give local and international investors additional time to conduct due diligence and prepare their EOIs, while supporting a more competitive and transparent privatisation process.

Under the government’s privatisation programme, investors are being invited to acquire 51% to 100% of the share capital along with management control of three power distribution companies: IESCO, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO).

For IESCO, the new EOI submission deadline is September 21 at 4:00pm (PKT). The Privatisation Commission said all other terms and conditions of the process will remain unchanged.

The extension comes as the government seeks to attract stronger private-sector participation in the power distribution sector and improve the performance of state-owned distribution companies.

IESCO has recently reported progress in reducing electricity losses. According to company officials, its line losses declined from 8.75% to 7.6% over the last two financial years.
