KATI U.S.-Iran ceasefire mediation
The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has lauded the recent U.S.-Iran ceasefire, describing Pakistan’s mediation role as a “Diplomatic Masterclass” led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. The business community believes this intervention has averted a potential global catastrophe and set the stage for significant economic recovery.
Economic and Diplomatic Impacts
KATI highlighted several critical outcomes of the successful mediation:
- Stock Market Surge: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) is already experiencing an “extraordinary surge” as investor confidence returns following the news of peace.
- Energy Relief: With the Strait of Hormuz set to reopen, a major drop in global oil prices is anticipated, which will provide much-needed relief to both industrial sectors and the general public.
- International Recognition: Pakistan is receiving widespread praise from the UN and global leaders for its pivotal role as a peacemaker in the region.
- Regional Stability: KATI credited Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts with stopping a regional conflict from escalating into a broader global war.
