Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Ethiopian Ambassador H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussein Oba have held a high-level meeting to solidify a “fresh foundation” for bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The discussions centered on moving beyond traditional diplomacy toward practical, results-oriented partnerships in manufacturing, tourism, and logistics.
Strategic Gateway Partnership
- Market Access: Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted that Pakistan and Ethiopia are ideally positioned to act as strategic gateways for each other into the South Asian and African markets, respectively.
- Look Africa Policy: The meeting aligns with Pakistan’s “Look Africa” initiative, seeking to diversify export destinations and strengthen ties with emerging African economies.
- Sectoral Focus: Both nations expressed interest in replicating successful economic models, such as the Sialkot industrial model, to boost manufacturing and aviation logistics.
