Surge in Domestic Tourism:KP Hits Record 231,000 Daily Visitors including 109,000 in Kaghan Valley.
The summer tourism season in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reached an unprecedented peak, with the scenic Naran-Kaghan Valley stealing the spotlight by welcoming more than 109,000 domestic tourists in a single 24-hour period.
According to the latest daily influx statistics released by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), the province recorded a massive total of 231,786 domestic visitors and 41 foreign tourists on June 25, 2026. This major surge highlights the growing appeal of KP’s northern alpine regions as families and adventure seekers rush to escape the intensifying heatwave across the country’s plains.
Top Destinations Driving the Summer Influx
While Kaghan Valley stood firmly at the top, Swat Valley secured the second spot, drawing a massive crowd of over 57,000 visitors. The Galiyat region followed closely as a major hub for travelers from Islamabad and Punjab.

Economic Windfall and Sustainability Challenges
This enormous influx has generated an immediate financial boost for remote mountain economies. Local hotel associations are reporting near-maximum occupancy, while small businesses, tour guides, transport vendors, and restaurants are experiencing a massive surge in sales. Provincial policymakers view tourism as a primary economic engine capable of creating sustainable employment in remote locations.
Note on Safety: To assist the massive volume of travelers, the KP government has mobilized the specialized KP Tourist Police across major highways and choke points. Travelers can access 24/7 assistance or report traffic delays by dialing the helpline 1422.
However, the rapid influx also highlights the urgent need for infrastructure resilience. Environmental analysts and local authorities emphasize that managing solid waste, preventing traffic gridlocks, and regulating hotel pricing are critical to saving these fragile eco-zones from the pressures of overcrowding. The provincial government is actively focusing on eco-tourism initiatives and infrastructure upgrades to balance high visitor volumes with long-term environmental preservation.
