This substantial approval pipeline is slated for systematic conversion into disbursements as successful applicants finalize property selection and legal documentation. Concurrently, the bank’s actual disbursements have surpassed Rs4 billion, directly facilitating homeownership for approximately 650 families. The approved financing represents a significant pipeline that is expected to convert into disbursements as applicants complete property selection, documentation and other formalities.
Meezan Bank has already disbursed more than Rs4 billion under the programme, supporting around 650 families. Disbursements accelerated in August, with approximately Rs2.2 billion released during the month alone, accounting for more than half of the bank’s cumulative disbursements under the programme.
Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Group Head Consumer Finance at Meezan Bank, said the approvals demonstrate significant demand for affordable and Shariah-compliant home financing. The bank aims to convert the approved pipeline into home ownership for thousands of additional customers.
The government’s Ghar Ho Tu Apna programme is designed to expand access to institutional housing finance for first-time homeowners. Under the scheme, eligible customers can obtain financing of up to Rs10 million, with financing available for purchasing or constructing a house or flat.
For eligible commercial-bank borrowers, the programme provides subsidised financing rates, with terms depending on the applicable housing category. The scheme allows financing for houses and apartments within specified size limits and can extend up to 20 years.
