Former K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi has been appointed as the new CEO of Gas & Oil Pakistan Limited (GO Petroleum), following Saudi Aramco's acquisition. Former K-Electric (KE) Chief Executive Officer Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi has been appointed as the new CEO of Gas & Oil Pakistan Limited (GO Petroleum), adding an experienced power-sector executive to the leadership of the oil marketing company.
Alvi announced his appointment on social media, saying he was grateful to the company’s board and leadership for their trust and would focus on creating lasting value for Pakistan’s energy sector.
GO Petroleum is an oil marketing company operating a network of more than 1,300 retail fuel stations across Pakistan. Its network supplies petrol, high-octane fuel, diesel and lubricants to consumers and businesses.
The company has also expanded its strategic footprint following Saudi Aramco’s acquisition of a 40% stake in GO Pakistan. GO says the partnership is aimed at combining Aramco’s global expertise with the company’s local market presence.
Alvi previously led K-Electric, serving as its CEO from June 2018 until his resignation in February 2026. K-Electric subsequently appointed Adeeb Ahmad as interim CEO.
He brings more than 30 years of experience spanning finance, financial planning and capital restructuring. Alvi is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).
His move to GO Petroleum comes as Pakistan’s downstream energy sector is undergoing changes, including efforts by the government to increase competition in fuel supply and move towards a more market-based petrol pricing system. The Petroleum Division has set a tentative target of June 2027 for petrol price deregulation.
With GO Petroleum expanding its retail network and working with Aramco, Alvi’s appointment places a senior energy-sector executive at the helm as the company continues to develop its operations in Pakistan’s competitive oil marketing market.
