Jazz 15.1 Gbps microwave link backhaul Pakistan 2026
✧ GENERATE BRIEFING

Jazz successfully deploys Pakistan's highest-capacity 15.1 Gbps microwave link using Huawei's platform, boosting backhaul for 4G and 5G expansion. Jazz has successfully deployed Pakistan’s first and highest-capacity 15.1 Gbps microwave link over a single antenna, a major milestone in upgrading its backhaul infrastructure to support surging data demands and future-ready 4G and 5G connectivity. Implemented using a Super Dual Band configuration on Huawei Technologies' microwave platform, the system consolidates multiple carrier outdoor units onto a single high-efficiency antenna. This design drastically expands data throughput while reducing physical hardware requirements and tower footprints—making it highly effective for dense, space-constrained urban environments. According to Chief Technology Officer Khalid Shehzad, the deployment underscores Jazz's continued leadership in scaling its transport network ahead of customer traffic growth.

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading connectivity provider from JazzWorld, has successfully deployed Pakistan’s first and highest-capacity 15.1 Gbps microwave link over a single antenna, significantly enhancing its backhaul infrastructure to support the growing demands of its network.

The milestone strengthens a critical layer of network infrastructure: high-capacity backhaul that carries increasing volumes of data from mobile sites into the wider network. The deployment utilizes a Super Dual Band configuration on a single high-efficiency antenna based on Huawei Technologies’ microwave platform, enabling greater data throughput while optimizing infrastructure requirements. The achievement demonstrates Jazz’s continued investment in building a future-ready transport network across both fiber and microwave infrastructure to support the evolving requirements of 4G and 5G connectivity.

“Jazz has always been at the forefront of adopting state-of-the-art technologies to build Pakistan’s most advanced and future-ready network,” said Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer, Jazz. “As the market leader, with the country’s largest 5G footprint, our transport network infrastructure has consistently evolved ahead of the growing demands of our customers. Achieving Pakistan’s first and highest-capacity 15.1 Gbps microwave link is another significant milestone in this journey, demonstrating our ability to push the boundaries of network capacity and innovation.”

The deployment combines multiple carrier outdoor units on a single antenna instead of separate dishes, increasing capacity while minimizing hardware requirements. This solution will also reduce the tower footprint, making it particularly valuable at dense and space-constrained locations.

Jazz’s latest infrastructure milestone reflects its broader commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s digital backbone and preparing its network for the growing demands of next-generation connectivity. By expanding its high-capacity backhaul infrastructure, Jazz continues to enhance the scalability, efficiency and resilience of its network to support both current and future connectivity needs.
