Reckitt Pakistan has launched “Saaf Sehatmand Pakistan,” a new social impact platform in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan, aimed at improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for children across the country.

The partnership will initially focus on a school-based water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programme, combining Reckitt’s health and hygiene expertise with the Aga Khan Foundation’s experience in community-based WASH initiatives.

Infrastructure Upgrades and School WASH Program

Under the first phase, participating schools will receive comprehensive support for:

  • Safe Drinking Water: Installation and rehabilitation of clean water access points.
  • Sanitation Facilities: Upgrading and restoring school toilet blocks.
  • Hygiene Stations: Establishing dedicated handwashing stations equipped with proper sanitation supplies.
  • Educational Curriculum: Delivering structured hygiene education to help children cultivate long-term, healthy personal habits.

The initiative is directly powered by Reckitt brands Dettol and Harpic, unifying the company’s extensive corporate social responsibility footprint in health, hygiene, and sanitation under one overarching national platform.

High-Profile Launch in Karachi

The platform was formally unveiled in Karachi following the signing of a strategic partnership agreement. The high-profile launch event was attended by British Deputy High Commissioner Karachi Alison Blackburne, Reckitt Pakistan General Manager Asif M. Hashimi, Marketing Director Sarah Ahmed, Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan National Committee Chairman Amin Feerasta, and CEO Akhtar Iqbal.

While Reckitt Pakistan already reaches more than two million children annually through classroom-based hygiene awareness, the new collaboration expands this scope by coupling awareness campaigns with critical physical infrastructure improvements.

Leadership from the Aga Khan Foundation noted that the initiative builds on decades of grassroots community development, with initial school rollouts specifically targeting underserved learning environments in rural Sindh. Designed as a long-term framework, the platform intends to scale beyond individual classrooms, eventually extending improved sanitation practices from schools into households and local communities nationwide.
