✧ GENERATE BRIEFING
Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL / PSX: OGDC) officially submitted a material disclosure to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday, October 22, 2026, announcing the commencement of commercial gas and condensate production from its Bitrism East-1 exploratory well in Khairpur District, Sindh. Initial output has been injected into the national grid at 7 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and 200 barrels of condensate per day (BCPD). Key operational, infrastructure, and corporate ownership details include:Infrastructure Integration: To fast-track commercialization, OGDCL deployed in-house engineering capabilities to construct an 8-inch, 28-kilometer pipeline connecting Bitrism East-1 to its central Sinjhoro Processing Plant. National Grid Injection: Processed gas is being fed directly into the transmission network of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) to bolster domestic supply. Geological Target & Production Scalability: Hydrocarbons are being drawn from the Basal Sands of the Lower Goru Formation.
Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced gas and condensate production from its Bitrism East-1 exploratory well in Khairpur district, Sindh, with initial output reaching 7 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 200 barrels of condensate daily.
The company disclosed the development in a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday, October 22.
Geological Target and Pipeline Infrastructure
OGDCL said the well is producing gas from the Basal Sands of the Lower Goru Formation. Production is expected to increase gradually as the well’s flow stabilises over the coming weeks.
To bring the discovery into production, OGDCL used its own engineering resources to construct an approximately 28-kilometre-long, 8-inch pipeline connecting the well in Khairpur to its Sinjhoro processing plant.
| Technical & Operational Parameter | Specification / Volume |
| Initial Daily Gas Production | 7.0 MMSCFD |
| Initial Daily Condensate Output | 200 Barrels/Day |
| Producing Formation | Basal Sands (Lower Goru) |
| Pipeline Length & Diameter | 28 km (8-inch diameter) |
| Processing Hub & Off-taker | Sinjhoro Plant / SSGCL Network |
The gas is being processed at the Sinjhoro plant before being supplied directly to the network of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), linking the new production to Pakistan’s domestic energy transmission system.
Joint Venture Interest and Discovery Background
OGDCL operates the Bitrism Exploration Licence with a 77.5% working interest, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holds the remaining 22.5% working interest.
The production start follows OGDCL’s October 2025 announcement of a gas-condensate discovery at Bitrism East-1. At the time, testing of the well indicated a combined potential of 22.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 690 barrels of condensate daily from the targeted formations.
The current production figures are lower than the earlier test-based potential, but the company noted that output may be raised progressively as flow conditions stabilize. Test results and actual operational production levels represent different measurement parameters in hydrocarbon field development.
Contribution to Domestic Energy Supply
The development adds another producing well to OGDCL’s exploration and production portfolio while injecting additional indigenous gas and condensate into the country’s energy-constrained supply chain.
OGDCL stated that the commencement of production reflects its continuous efforts to fast-track discoveries into commercial operation, enhance domestic hydrocarbon supplies, and support Pakistan’s long-term energy security.
