PM Youth Programme to distribute 700,000 Chromebooks, while Punjab extends its Laptop Scheme deadline.
In a massive push towards the Digital Pakistan vision, the federal and provincial governments have officially rolled out a series of landmark initiatives to equip the youth with modern technology.
I. Federal Chromebook & Tablet Distribution
The federal government has announced the distribution of 700,000 Google Chromebooks to students across Pakistan under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP).
- Strategic Data Request: The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) has already notified all educational boards to provide data for exceptional students in public schools and colleges to ensure transparent distribution.
- “Made in Pakistan” Vision: A new assembly line in Haripur is set to produce 500,000 units by late 2026 through a partnership between Google and Tech Valley.
- Nationwide Scope: The program is inclusive, covering public/private schools and universities in all provinces, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
II. CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2026 (Phase-II)
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially opened Phase-II of the provincial laptop scheme with high-performance 13th Gen Core i7 devices.
- Registration Deadline: Students must apply by the extended deadline of February 15, 2026.
- Eligibility: Undergraduate students in their 1st or 2nd semester of BS programs, and 1st professional year Medical/Dental/Nursing students are eligible.
- Merit Thresholds: A minimum of 65% marks in Intermediate is required for BS students, while Medical/Dental students require 80%.
- Apply Online: Registration is strictly via the Official Portal; manual applications will not be processed.
