Strategic Strength: Iran asserts its ballistic missile arsenal is fully recovered and technically superior following the 2025 conflict.

Despite the intense 12-day war with Israel in June 2025, Iran has asserted that its ballistic missile arsenal—the largest in the Middle East—is now fully recovered and technologically superior. According to recent reports, Tehran views these capabilities as its primary deterrent and has declared them a non-negotiable “red line” in ongoing nuclear talks with the U.S. in Oman.

Technical Advancements & Strategic Depth

Iran maintains a self-imposed range limit of 2,000 km, capable of reaching any target in Israel and the broader region. Its arsenal is protected within sophisticated underground “missile cities”. Key advancements include:

  • Hypersonic Speed: The Fattah-1 and Fattah-2 missiles claim speeds of Mach 13–15, featuring maneuverable warheads designed to evade modern defense systems.
  • Precision Striking: Missiles like the Kheybar Shekan (1,450 km range) and Raad-500 offer pinpoint accuracy through advanced solid-fuel technology and composite materials.
  • Diverse Arsenal: The inventory includes the liquid-fueled Khorramshahr and Haj Qasem (solid-fueled), providing a multi-layered strike capability.

Diplomatic Firmness

In the February 2026 Oman talks, Tehran has reportedly requested to keep the agenda strictly limited to nuclear issues to prevent any discussion on its ballistic program. While Western powers push for limits, the IRGC insists the program is strictly for conventional deterrence and defense against external aggression.
