Following the historic return of the festival in Lahore, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced that Karachi will soon host its own Basant Mela to celebrate the arrival of spring. Speaking to the media, the Mayor emphasized the need to restore Karachi’s traditional cultural and recreational life.

The city administration is currently evaluating several iconic locations to ensure a grand yet safe celebration:

  • Potential Venues: Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim and Benazir Bhutto Park are among the top choices for the kite-flying event.
  • Cultural Revival: Beyond kite flying, the festival is expected to feature cultural activities, similar to the recent flower show and Qawwali nights held at Karachi Zoo.
  • Regulated Environment: Mayor Wahab assured that the event would be organized in a safe and regulated manner, allowing families and enthusiasts to enjoy the festive spirit.
