Sindh CM Inaugurates 21st “My Karachi” Exhibition; Pledges Relief for Gul Plaza.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah officially inaugurated the 21st My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony Exhibition on Friday, celebrating the city’s economic resilience. Addressing diplomats and industry leaders at the Expo Centre, the CM reaffirmed the government’s goal of transforming Karachi into a global business hub while providing immediate support to the local trading community.
Relief Package for Gul Plaza Affectees
In a significant move to support victims of the recent Gul Plaza incident, the CM announced that compensation would be released within two months:
- Financial Aid: Families of the deceased will receive Rs 10 million, while affected shopkeepers are granted immediate relief of Rs 500,000 each.
- Reconstruction: Gul Plaza will be rebuilt to its original design within two years with improved safety standards.
- Temporary Hubs: Displaced traders will be provided with zero-rent temporary shops at identified locations to sustain their livelihoods.
Infrastructure and Industrial Support
The CM detailed major financial allocations to improve the city’s business environment:
- Rs 10 billion has been allocated to industrial associations specifically for infrastructure.
- Rs 13 billion was provided to the Karachi Mayor for city-wide road and drainage improvements.
