Pakistan to Attend Historic Gaza Board of Peace Summit Chaired by Donald Trump.
Diplomatic Breakthrough: Pakistan has formally accepted an invitation to join the Board of Peace, a new international body led by the U.S. to manage post-war Gaza.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) confirmed that Pakistan has officially joined the Board of Peace (BoP) following an invitation extended by President Trump to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The BoP is recognized under UN Security Council Resolution 2803 as a transitional administrative framework for Gaza.
Core Objectives of the Feb 19 Summit
- Peace Restoration: The board will oversee the second phase of the peace plan, focusing on moving from a temporary ceasefire to a permanent cessation of hostilities.
- Humanitarian & Financial Access: The summit will double as a fundraising conference, seeking capital mobilization for Gaza’s recovery. Permanent membership reportedly requires a $1 billion cash contribution within the first year.
- Post-Conflict Governance: Discussions will involve the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) and a technocratic Palestinian governing body.
Pakistan’s Diplomatic Stance
Islamabad views the summit as a platform to advocate for the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people. Pakistan’s representative, likely the Prime Minister, will push for a time-bound political process leading to a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
