Authorities at the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) have uncovered a major theft involving high-value medical supplies estimated at approximately Rs 4.5 crore (Rs 45 million). The incident, which came to light during a routine stock verification, has led to immediate legal and departmental action.

  • Stolen Life-Saving Supplies: The stolen items consist of essential cardiac equipment, including expensive stents and guide wires used in critical procedures like angioplasty.
  • Immediate Arrests and Dismissals: Four store employees have been arrested, suspended, and dismissed from their services after being handed over to law enforcement.
  • Method of Theft: Investigators believe the suspects used meticulous planning, allegedly opening sealed boxes to remove the items and then carefully resealing them to avoid detection over an extended period.
  • Local Market Sale: Preliminary findings suggest that the pilfered supplies were systematically removed and allegedly sold in various markets across Peshawar.
