In a major step toward bridging the digital divide in Sindh, Jazz and the Universal Service Fund (USF) have launched a significant high-speed broadband project for District Badin. The initiative, inaugurated on February 15, 2026, is part of a broader PKR 4 billion investment in the Sanghar and Badin districts aimed at empowering underserved rural communities.

Key Highlights of the Badin Project

  • Major Investment: The project is valued at PKR 668 million, specifically targeting the expansion of telecom infrastructure within Badin.
  • Infrastructure Boost: Jazz will deploy 45 new telecom sites and upgrade four existing ones to ensure robust 4G coverage across the region.
  • Massive Outreach: The network expansion will bring high-speed mobile broadband to 144 unserved and underserved mauzas, directly benefiting an estimated 0.43 million people.
  • High-Level Ceremony: The agreement was formalized at a ceremony at Governor House in Karachi, attended by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
  • Socio-Economic Impact: By providing reliable connectivity, the project aims to unlock access to digital finance, online education, telehealth, and e-government services for local residents and farmers.
