Key Highlights of the Proposed Deal

Strategic Optimism: France is seeking to expand its military partnership with New Delhi despite recent history. During the 2025 India–Pakistan conflict, India reportedly lost at least one French-made Rafale fighter jet during aerial clashes in May.
Manufacturing Boost: Under the “Make in India” framework, only 18 jets will be purchased “off-the-shelf” from Dassault Aviation, while the remaining 96 will be manufactured domestically with over 50% indigenous content.
Industrial Collaboration: Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated India’s first private-sector helicopter Final Assembly Line (FAL) at Vemagal, Karnataka. A joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus, the facility will produce the H125 helicopter and its military variant, the H125M.
