The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on Monday that it will begin printing newly designed currency notes of two to three different denominations once the federal cabinet grants its approval. The move is part of SBP’s ongoing efforts to upgrade Pakistan’s currency system with improved security and modern designs.
SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad shared the update during a press conference held to announce the latest monetary policy for the next six weeks. He stated that the process is at an advanced stage and printing will commence soon after cabinet clearance. The new-design notes will enter circulation once the central bank achieves a minimum stock to replace existing notes in a phased manner.
