Senior journalist Hamid Mir has made a heartfelt appeal to the nation and the global Pakistani diaspora to support the completion of the third Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) in Karachi. With the project entering its final stages, an additional Rs 9 billion is needed to complete construction and equip the facility with specialized medical technology.

A Milestone for Cancer Care

• Opening Date: The hospital is officially scheduled to open its doors in December 2026.
• Scale and Scope: Located in DHA City, Karachi, this facility will be twice the size of the Lahore hospital, covering over 1 million square feet.
• Regional Impact: It will serve as Pakistan’s largest tertiary-care cancer center, providing free multimodality treatment to patients from Sindh, Southern Balochistan, and beyond.
• Current Status: While the physical structure is largely complete, finishing work and equipment installation are currently underway at a total project cost estimated at USD 109 million.
