PTA toll free 0800 calls free
In a major relief for telecom consumers, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially removed all charges for calling 0800 toll-free numbers from mobile phones. Previously, while fixed-line users enjoyed free calls to these helplines, mobile subscribers were often charged regular call rates.
Key Highlights of the Move:
- End of “Hidden” Charges: Mobile users will no longer be billed for calling helplines of banks, businesses, or government departments starting with 0800.
- Universal Access: The decision removes financial barriers for people in remote areas who rely solely on mobile networks to reach essential support services.
- Collaborative Success: The policy was implemented after successful consultations with major industry players, including PTCL, NTC, and all cellular mobile operators.
- Immediate Implementation: The new rules are already active, allowing subscribers to access inquiry and complaint services without spending a single rupee.
This initiative is a significant step toward a fairer telecom system where “toll-free” truly means free for everyone across all platforms.
