KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange has reiterated the mandatory requirement for listed companies to disclose gender pay gap information. The July 06 reminder references SECP Circular 10 of 2024 issued in April last year.

Focus on Transparency

The disclosure must be included in annual reports and uploaded on company websites. It covers mean and median pay gaps calculated as per the provided methodology.

This initiative is linked to the Prime Minister’s Women Empowerment Package. It aims to foster diversity and equal opportunities in corporate Pakistan.

Guidance for Compliance

SECP’s template requires a clear statement signed by the CEO or director. Detailed notes explain which pay components to include or exclude in calculations.

Companies failing to provide complete information risk regulatory action. The PSX notice specifically targets those with recent financial year-ends.

Step Towards Equality

Such reporting promotes accountability on pay equity. It encourages boards to address any existing disparities and support women’s career growth.

This regulatory push is expected to set higher standards for corporate governance and inclusivity across listed entities in Pakistan.
