ADB Announces High-Level Social Infrastructure Innovation Session for 2026 Business Opportunities Fair.
As climate change, rapid urbanization, and mounting fiscal pressures reshape development priorities across Asia and the Pacific, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced a dedicated Social Infrastructure Innovation Session.
The high-level session will take place on September 23, 2026, as a key feature of the 14th ADB Business Opportunities Fair (BOF) at the bank’s headquarters in Manila.
The event serves as an exclusive, collaborative platform linking multilateral project teams, country-level stakeholders, and international developers. The focus centers entirely on advancing public spaces used for education, modern healthcare facilities, community care centers, emergency relief spaces, and inclusive social protection hubs.
Core Focus Areas for Future-Ready Design
The session will bring together industry leaders and contractors specializing in sustainable materials, resilient construction methodologies, and climate-adaptive technologies. ADB project teams will lead deep dives into five critical thematic pillars:
- Climate-Resilient and Disaster-Ready Infrastructure: Engineering structures for extreme weather, constructing multiple-use facilities for rapid emergency deployment, and reviving traditional, time-tested building practices.
- Multi-Functional and Community Infrastructure: Designing highly flexible, inclusive public structures that seamlessly integrate into existing community settings.
- Smart and Digital Solutions: Implementing automated building management systems, advanced digital construction modeling tools, and biomimicry-driven parametric designs for passive heating and cooling.
- Innovative Materials and Methods: Deploying modular construction, prefabrication, and scalable, alternative materials engineered for diverse topographies.
- Sustainable and Low-Carbon Construction: Optimizing lifecycle building costs, improving energy efficiency, and mandating the use of green or recycled building materials.
Session Format: Panels and Fast-Paced Pitches
Designed to move away from static presentations, the one-hour event balances institutional updates with interactive industry engagement. The timeline follows a structured, dual-format approach:
- Expert Panel Discussion: A strategic evaluation outlining structural bottlenecks, pipeline financing opportunities, and regulatory frameworks. The panel will feature an ADB sector specialist, a regional country stakeholder, and up to two industry contractors selected from submitted Expressions of Interest (EOIs).
- PechaKucha Pitch Session: A rapid-fire, high-energy presentation segment featuring up to 10 selected companies. Presenters will pitch their proprietary technology, scalable solutions, or project case studies directly to ADB procurement officers and government delegates.
Deadlines and Evaluation Criteria
Participation in the session is voluntary and self-funded, with companies assuming all responsibilities for travel, accommodation, and entry visa logistics to the Philippines.
While general registration for the broader 2026 Business Opportunities Fair remains open later into the quarter, the cutoff for companies aiming to secure a speaking spot on the panel or within the PechaKucha segment is fast approaching.
Key Deadline: The cutoff for submitting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to pitch or join the panel is July 15, 2026.
ADB project teams will evaluate submitted corporate profiles based on three central parameters: direct relevance to the social infrastructure sector, the innovative nature of the proposed approach, and demonstrated scalability across developing member countries. Interested contractors, architecture firms, and technology providers can register via the official procurement portal on the ADB website.
