TikTok Deletes 22.5 Million Violating Videos in Pakistan; 99.6% Detected Proactively.
TikTok has officially released its Q1 2026 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, detailing the platform’s content moderation metrics and safety operations from January to March 2026. The latest transparency data underscores the app’s increasing reliance on automated machine learning models to police digital content at scale.
During the first quarter of 2026, TikTok removed 22,535,523 videos in Pakistan for breaching its core safety policies. This volume represents approximately 0.8 percent of all videos published within the country during the three-month window.
Local vs. Global Moderation Metrics
The platform’s moderation apparatus demonstrated high efficiency in automated flagging, maintaining quick turnaround speeds between content upload and deletion. In Pakistan, 99.6 percent of the violating content was flagged and taken down before being reported by users, and 95.5 percent was scrubbed within 24 hours of upload. Following administrative appeals, 690,557 videos were reinstated after human review.
| Metric Region | Videos Removed | Proactive Detection Rate | Take Down (Within 24 Hours) | Reinstated Content |
| Pakistan | 22.53 Million | 99.6% | 95.5% | 690,557 |
| Global | 184.01 Million | 99.3% | 94.4% | 8.83 Million |
Globally, the entertainment platform took down more than 184 million videos, accounting for 0.5 percent of total uploads. System-wide automation drove the vast majority of these actions, with automated detection technologies accounting for 178,014,154 of the global removals.
To safeguard system integrity and prevent coordinated inauthentic behavior, TikTok also deactivated 86,288,705 fake accounts globally. An additional 25,764,372 accounts were terminated due to suspected violations of the platform’s minimum age threshold (under 13 years old).
Primary Policy Violations Breakdown
The data reveals that sensitive themes, safety concerns, and physical risk challenges remain the leading drivers behind content suppression.
The categorical distribution of global video removals highlighted distinct policy pressures:
- Sensitive or Mature Themes: 18.6% of total removals.
- Dangerous Activities and Challenges: 16.5% of total removals.
- Body Exposure and Sexualized Behaviors: 12.9% of total removals.
- Safety and Civility Standards: 12.6% of total removals.
- Edited Media and AI-Generated Content (AIGC): 2.1% of total removals.
The inclusion of synthetic media metrics reflects stricter compliance frameworks implemented across 2025 and 2026 regarding undisclosed Artificial Intelligence (AI) filters, deepfakes, and automated media manipulation. Complete breakdowns of localized safety data are currently available in both English and Urdu via the online TikTok Transparency Centre.
