ISLAMABAD, August 17, 2026: Zong has partnered with Zindigi, powered by JS Bank, to launch Z-Wallet, an embedded digital banking service that brings regulated financial services directly into the My Zong App.
The initiative, powered by Zindigi’s Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) infrastructure, will allow more than 22 million monthly active My Zong App users to access essential financial services without downloading or switching to a separate banking application.
The launch event was attended by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, along with other dignitaries and government officials. The development marks a step towards integrating telecommunications and financial services through large-scale consumer digital platforms.
Banking services integrated into My Zong App
Z-Wallet is built on Zindigi by JS Bank’s regulated banking infrastructure and operates under the regulatory framework of the State Bank of Pakistan. It combines Zong’s technology platforms and customer reach with Zindigi’s digital banking capabilities.
Customers can use Z-Wallet to make interbank fund transfers through RAAST, pay utility and internet bills, and purchase mobile top-ups, all through a single login and PIN.
The service is expected to expand with additional offerings, including nano lending, a Z-Debit Card and specialised Zong bundles, creating a broader financial-services ecosystem within the My Zong App.
Speaking at the launch, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the initiative demonstrated how telecommunications and financial technology could work together to expand access to digital financial services.
“Pakistan’s digital transformation must translate into greater access, opportunity and convenience for its citizens.”
He said such private-sector collaborations could support the government’s Digital Nation Pakistan vision by promoting digital and financial inclusion, encouraging digital payments and enabling greater participation in the digital economy.
Zong expands beyond traditional telecom services
Zong Marketing Head Sajid Munir said the launch represented another step in the company’s expansion into financial services and the development of an integrated digital ecosystem.
“By combining China Mobile’s global technology expertise with Zindigi by JS Bank’s financial capabilities, we are bringing connectivity, technology and finance together on a single digital platform.”
Zindigi Co-Founder and Chief Officer Noman Azhar said the future of financial inclusion would increasingly depend on integrating banking services into platforms that consumers already use.
“Z-Wallet is embedded finance at scale, bringing together Zong’s nationwide digital reach and Zindigi’s regulated Banking-as-a-Service infrastructure to put financial services directly into the customer journey.”
Early adoption shows customer demand
Following its soft launch, Z-Wallet has already onboarded approximately 22,000 verified wallets and processed more than 12,000 transactions within a few weeks.
The companies said the early traction was achieved before significant marketing investment, indicating initial organic demand for integrated digital financial services.
The My Zong App also records more than 500,000 new downloads each month, providing Z-Wallet with a growing digital channel through which financial services can be introduced to customers across Pakistan.
Part of broader shift towards embedded finance
The partnership reflects the broader global shift towards embedded finance, where banking and financial services are integrated directly into digital platforms and applications rather than requiring customers to use separate banking channels.
By combining Zong’s scale and customer reach with Zindigi’s BaaS infrastructure, the initiative aims to reduce barriers to accessing financial services and contribute to greater digital and financial inclusion in Pakistan.
Z-Wallet also forms part of Zong’s Diverse Products and Services portfolio and supports the company’s focus on AI enablement as it continues integrating intelligent technologies across its digital ecosystem.
The initiative is ultimately aimed at simplifying customer interactions, improving service delivery and enabling more personalised digital experiences, while positioning the My Zong App as a broader digital platform beyond conventional telecommunications services.
