The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) have formalized a strategic fuel supply agreement to streamline procurement and enhance operational efficiencies. Under the terms of the accord, PAEC will be equipped with PSO fleet cards alongside discounted bulk supplies of petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL). This integrated framework is designed to optimize the fuel management, the lower operational expenditure, and introduce the greater transparency into the commission's logistical workflows. The agreement underscores a robust, 45-year collaborative partnership between the two state-backed institutions. For PSO, the pact reinforces its core objective of driving supply-chain resilience, procurement diversification, and strategic energy management amidst heightened global commodity volatility. Both organizations emphasized that the arrangement extends beyond a standard commercial transaction, focusing instead on the long-term institutional cooperation, cost economy, and structured resource optimization.
The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) have signed an agreement covering the provision of PSO fleet cards and bulk supplies of petroleum, oil and lubricants (POL) to PAEC.
Under the agreement, PAEC will receive PSO fleet cards while POL and lubricants will be supplied in bulk at discounted rates. The arrangement is expected to provide operational and financial benefits to PAEC while establishing a more reliable and streamlined fuel supply mechanism.
The partnership is intended to improve the efficiency of PAEC’s fuel procurement and usage by combining fleet-card services with direct bulk supplies. The discounted procurement arrangement could also help the commission manage its fuel-related operating costs.
The agreement also marks a continuation of the longstanding relationship between PAEC and PSO, which the organisations said has lasted for more than 45 years.
Both organisations described the arrangement as more than a commercial transaction, highlighting efficiency, transparency, economy and mutually beneficial cooperation as key objectives of the partnership.
The development comes as PSO continues to strengthen its role in Pakistan’s energy supply chain. The state-owned oil marketing company has recently emphasised supply-chain resilience, procurement diversification and strategic fuel reserves amid global energy-market uncertainty.
