McDonald’s Pakistan has marked its 28th anniversary by recognising the local farmers, suppliers, manufacturers and organisations that have supported the fast-food chain’s operations since it entered the country in 1998.
The anniversary gathering, held at the company’s Gulberg restaurant in Lahore, focused on the domestic supply chain behind McDonald’s operations rather than the brand’s restaurants. Local partners including Big Bird, Nurpur, Packages Limited, Fresh & Freeze, Pronto Spaces, Saima Packaging and the Zaman Foundation were recognised during the event.
McDonald’s said its long-term relationships with Pakistani businesses have helped develop local capabilities across several areas, including poultry processing, dairy production, packaging and cold-chain operations.
Cultivating Domestic Enterprise and Standards
The company highlighted the critical role of local dairy farmers in supplying fresh milk and poultry producers in maintaining biosecurity and quality standards. Packaging for McDonald’s products is also manufactured and printed locally, demonstrating the deep involvement of domestic suppliers across different stages of its operations.
Over the past 28 years, these partnerships have extended beyond conventional supplier relationships through ongoing training, knowledge sharing, technology transfer and technical support. These efforts have enabled local companies to align their production processes with international food-safety standards.
Economic Footprint in Pakistan
McDonald’s Pakistan is operated by SIZA Foods (Private) Limited, with all restaurants locally owned and operated under the Lakson Group. The network has grown to encompass more than 80 restaurants and over 6,300 employees across the country.
The anniversary milestone underscores the broader impact of local sourcing on Pakistan’s food and manufacturing ecosystem. Long-term integration with global brands provides domestic companies vital opportunities to upgrade technology, improve production systems, and build specialized capabilities that feed into sustainable industrial growth.
