Pakistan Customs Enforcement (Gadani) has executed a series of coordinated, intelligence-based operations across the Makran Division, Lasbela, and Hub regions, successfully intercepting contraband worth over Rs154 million. The multi-agency crackdowns conducted in collaboration with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) uncovered massive caches of foreign-origin goods hidden in concealed vehicle cavities and regional storehouses. Recoveries included luxury cosmetics, betel nuts, cigarettes, Indian gutka, plastic packaging, skimmed milk powder, and smuggled Iranian edible oil. Authorities have deposited the confiscated items in the State Warehouse, Gadani, reaffirming their commitment to dismantling illegal trade networks and protecting domestic industries.

Pakistan Customs Enforcement, Gadani, has seized smuggled goods and vehicles worth more than Rs154 million in a series of intelligence-based operations across Makran Division, Lasbela and Hub, the Press Information Department said on Wednesday.

Coordinated Interceptions Across Lasbela and Hub

In a joint operation conducted alongside the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in Hub, the Field Enforcement Unit Khurkhera intercepted two passenger buses operating in the Lasbela area.

  • Concealed Contraband: A meticulous physical search revealed foreign-origin betel nuts, cosmetics, cigarettes, Indian gutka, and parachute cloth stashed away in specially constructed hidden compartments.
  • Value: The combined value of the contraband and the carrying vehicles exceeded Rs130 million.

In a separate action, the Mobile Enforcement Unit Hub raided a local godown, recovering significant quantities of commercial plastic shopper bags and skimmed milk powder valued at approximately Rs20 million. The recovered items were securely transferred to the State Warehouse in Gadani.

Gwadar Sector Interception

Meanwhile, along the Coastal Highway, the Field Enforcement Unit Gwadar intercepted a transport vehicle carrying 750 kilograms of smuggled Iranian edible oil. Packed across 150 tins of five kilograms each, the seized consignment was valued at roughly Rs4 million.

Curbing Illegal Transit in Balochistan

The latest raids underscore an intensified crackdown by Customs Enforcement against illicit cross-border movement throughout Balochistan. Officials stressed that real-time intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation remain vital in bypassing concealment tactics used by smuggling syndicates.

Pakistan Customs reiterated its resolve to sustain targeted operations to protect legitimate domestic businesses, secure national revenue streams, and suppress illegal supply lines.
