Quantum Data Technologies Limited (QTECH), formerly known as Chakwal Spinning Mills Limited, plans to introduce and progressively assemble lithium-based battery energy storage systems in Pakistan under a strategic cooperation agreement with China’s Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology Co Ltd.

The company disclosed the agreement in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday, October 14, saying the partnership would explore opportunities to develop local assembly capabilities for advanced battery storage products.

Targeted Applications and Market Segments

Under the agreement, QTECH intends to introduce battery packs for residential and commercial use, alongside larger energy storage systems for industrial facilities and utility-scale applications.

The planned product range will also cover energy storage solutions for data centres, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, as well as other energy-intensive sectors.

Partner Profile and Corporate Restructuring

Great Power is a China-based battery technology company involved in the research, development, production and sale of batteries. Its products serve energy storage, new energy vehicles, consumer electronics, smart homes and security applications. The company is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and had an approximate market capitalisation of $4 billion as of October 13, 2026, according to QTECH.

QTECH said reliable electricity supplies and energy security were becoming increasingly important for Pakistan’s technological development, particularly as demand grows from data-driven businesses and AI infrastructure.

The company described the agreement as part of its broader strategy to expand into technology-related ventures and create long-term value for shareholders. QTECH was incorporated in Pakistan in 1988, and its principal business has been information technology and IT-enabled services.

The agreement signals another potential entry into Pakistan’s growing battery storage market, where high electricity costs and expanding solar installations have increased interest in energy storage systems. However, QTECH’s announcement concerns planned cooperation and progressive local assembly; it does not establish that commercial production has already started.
