China Pakistan EV partnership StarCharge Bahum Global

A new agreement between Pakistani and Chinese entities aims to bolster the country’s electric vehicle (EV) sector. Focus areas include the local manufacturing of EV components and widespread technology sharing.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between StarCharge, StarCharge Energy Pakistan, and Bahum Global Ltd. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Haroon Akhtar Khan witnessed the ceremony on behalf of the government.

This partnership comes as authorities prepare to introduce a comprehensive Battery Energy Storage System Policy. The policy is designed to attract investment and build a sustainable EV ecosystem across the country.

Environmental and Economic Benefits

Officials expect the shift to EVs to significantly reduce dependence on imported oil. Lower fuel imports will ease pressure on the current account while supporting cleaner energy goals.

The government is prioritizing the establishment of EV charging networks nationwide. Better charging access is crucial for increasing consumer confidence in electric mobility.

Haroon Akhtar Khan stressed the importance of Chinese collaboration for battery production and know-how transfer. These efforts are expected to generate employment and upgrade Pakistan’s industrial base.

The agreement reflects ongoing momentum in Pakistan-China economic cooperation. It complements previous deals focused on EV assembly and charging infrastructure development.

Experts view such pacts as essential for long-term energy security. They also position Pakistan to benefit from global trends in sustainable transportation.

Overall, the initiative promises both immediate infrastructure gains and broader industrial growth in the coming years.
