No interim dividend despite Atlas Honda delivers 25pc profit growth

Atlas Honda Limited recorded profit after tax of Rs6.02 billion for the three months ended June 30, 2026, up 25.1 percent from Rs4.81 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) stood at Rs48.48 against Rs38.74 in the previous year’s opening quarter. Despite the solid earnings expansion, the board of directors recommended no interim cash dividend.

Revenue Growth Remains the Primary Driver

Net sales increased 30.9 percent to Rs81.54 billion, reflecting strong sustained demand in the two-wheeler segment across the country. Gross profit rose 19.8 percent to Rs9.37 billion, even as the company experienced a modest contraction in gross margins.

Cost of sales moved higher in absolute terms due to increased production, but this was more than offset by the volume-led expansion in top-line revenue.

Cost Control and Other Income Support Earnings

Sales and marketing expenses alongside administrative costs increased in line with overall operational activity levels. Other income strengthened to Rs2.68 billion, while the share of profit from associates also showed positive movement.

Operating profit expanded to Rs9.63 billion. Finance costs rose slightly during the quarter but stayed manageable, while the effective tax rate remained consistent with previous financial periods.

Working Capital and Cash Position

Inventory levels increased significantly during the quarter, with stock-in-trade rising to Rs15.04 billion alongside a growth in trade debts. Cash and bank balances declined, primarily following the payment of the final cash dividend for the fiscal year ended March 2026.

Total equity reduced slightly to Rs45.58 billion after the dividend distribution. However, the company continues to maintain a strong liquidity buffer through its short-term investment holdings.

Outlook and Reporting Timeline

No interim dividend was declared for the first quarter, keeping capital retained within operations. The full quarterly financial report will be transmitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange via PUCARS shortly.

The opening quarter performance highlights sustained recovery in local motorcycle demand and Atlas Honda’s capability to translate top-line growth into double-digit bottom-line profit expansion at the start of the new financial year.
