A high-level Saudi business delegation led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council, visited the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and key cabinet members in Islamabad. The engagement focused on transitioning bilateral relations from traditional financial balance-of-payments support into a strategic economic partnership built on government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) investments. Through SIFC's single-window facilitation, Saudi investors are assessing key economic infrastructure projects—including power distribution, petroleum, highways, port operations, airport outsourcing, agriculture, and information technology.
A high-level commercial delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council, visited the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to evaluate concrete investment opportunities across Pakistan’s key industrial sectors.
The delegation met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif alongside key cabinet ministers—including Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister of Energy (Petroleum) Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari—to align project pipelines across energy, transport, and logistics networks.
Strategic Alignment & Target Sectors
The delegation’s visit builds on prior economic frameworks, including the 34 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) valued at $2.8 billion signed in late 2024, alongside broader plans to channel up to $10 billion in Saudi capital into Pakistan’s economy.
The Saudi delegation expressed formal investment interest across multiple commercial and operational areas:
- Power & Energy: Exploring equity participation and management opportunities in state power distribution companies (DISCOs), petroleum refining, and downstream infrastructure.
- Transportation & Logistics: Assessing commercial models for airport outsourcing, port terminal expansion, and national highway connectivity projects.
- Real Estate & Digital Infrastructure: Evaluating commercial real estate developments, technology ventures, and agricultural supply chain modernizations.
Single-Window Facilitation via SIFC
The SIFC provided the delegation with structured technical briefings covering project feasibility, regulatory protections, and tax positioning. The council’s one-window mechanism is designed to eliminate bureaucratic delays by centralizing approvals between federal ministries, provincial authorities, and private partners under a single platform.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that the current economic environment offers ideal conditions for joint ventures, urging both Pakistani and Saudi private sector entities to establish formal consortiums for project execution.
