Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) is preparing to introduce the GWM Cannon Alpha Hi4-T 4X4 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to the Pakistani market in the coming months. Following a corporate briefing reviewed by market analysts, management announced plans to position the rugged yet luxurious dual-purpose pickup at a competitive price point. The Cannon Alpha PHEV pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with Great Wall Motor’s advanced Hi4-T plug-in hybrid architecture and a four-wheel-drive system. Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) is expected to launch its Cannon Alpha Hi4-T 4X4 2.0L Turbo AT plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in Pakistan in the coming months, according to a corporate briefing report.
The Cannon Alpha is part of Sazgar’s strategy to expand its locally assembled new-energy vehicle (NEV) portfolio alongside models from Great Wall Motor (GWM). The company has advanced plans to introduce the rugged pickup as a locally assembled CKD model to tap into growing commercial and recreational demand.
The vehicle combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with GWM’s advanced Hi4-T plug-in hybrid system and a four-wheel-drive configuration. It is engineered to deliver robust pulling power and off-road capability while providing improved fuel efficiency through electric-assisted driving.
Sazgar’s management noted that future product rollouts will place an increasing emphasis on plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), aligning with broader industry shifts and expected structural incentives under upcoming government auto policies. The company has also been expanding its dealership footprint—currently maintaining the largest network among new entrants—to support its growing lineup of NEVs.
The Cannon Alpha will add a versatile pickup option to Sazgar’s existing offerings, which include the Haval SUV series and the TANK brand. As consumers and businesses look for alternatives to conventional fossil-fuel vehicles amid persistent energy cost pressures, the introduction of locally assembled hybrid options marks another step forward for Pakistan’s evolving automotive landscape.
